Jericho Beach Field Trip

Only 2 more days of school and for our second to last day, I had a field trip. Ms. Skinner took both Kindergarten classes to Jericho Beach for a fun morning. Lots of Mommies and a few Daddies came too.

When we left the school at 9:15, it was pouring rain. Mommy wasn't too sure about going on this field trip but I told her I knew it would stop raining soon (I am trying to be a famous TV weatherman so I know lots about this kind of stuff). I told her that I could tell the sun is trying to come out. By the time we got to the beach it had almost stopped raining!

Once our base camp was set up, we headed to the beach for a sandcastle building contest. We brought so many things to the beach but the one thing we forgot was my sand toys. Oh well, Mommy helped me collect some shells and I built a tall tower. We even found a big piece of wood to make a draw bridge. The sand was nice and wet so everything stuck together nicely.

After playing in the sand, we had a snack break. I also had to change out of my boots and into my Crocs because I decided to go into the ocean and my boots flooded. My feet and socks were swimming inside my boots!

After our snack, Ms. Skinner took us on a Nature Walk. We walked past the duck pond where some tiny, tiny, baby ducks were swimming. They were SOOOO cute! We also saw a beaver post - I'd never seen one before.

Then we headed up the hill and walked in the forest a little bit. We discovered tiny frogs in the grass and heard lots of different kinds of birds.

Our final stop on the nature walk was at the bridge that crosses the duck pond. Ms. Skinner had told us to collect two small sticks so we could play Pooh Sticks. That was a nice surprise. I liked playing Pooh Sticks when Aunty Elaine taught me how in Calgary.

Unfortunately, by the time we got back to our base camp, my feet were cold and wet again. Crocs aren't very good for going on a soggy nature walk. Mommy dried my feet and wrapped them up in a towel while I ate my lunch. I felt much better after that but I was still feeling cold so didn't feel like going on the Scavenger Hunt. Mommy and I decided to go home a little early so I could have hot shower to warm up.

The field trip was a little soggy and not so sunny and warm but I had lots of fun and can't wait for more trips to the beach this summer.

Books Books Books

I love books! I love it when Mommy reads to me and I also love reading stories to myself.

Right now, my favourite books are "The Magic Treehouse" series by Mary Pope Osborne. I like the adventures of Jack and Annie and the different places they go each time.

Mommy bought me all 39 of them to read this summer and I've already finished 14. It's so hard to stop reading them. One day I even read two!

I'm looking forward to lots of books this summer.

An Eating Adventure

Mommy wasn't feeling well yesterday so we went out for dinner. (I LOVE eating out!) Because I was super hungry and willing to try a new food we decided to walk to the Chinese restaurant up on the corner.

I love cashew nuts so Mommy thought I'd like "Chicken With Cashew Nuts". She was right!!! I loved it. Not only did I like the nuts but the chicken and tiny baby corns were tasty too. Even a few green peas were okay. I put the carrots, celery and bamboo shoot on my side plate though.

I like noodles so I tried the "Beef Chow Fun" Mommy was eating. Mmmmmmmm. That was yummy too. The beef didn't taste so good on it's own but with the chewy noodles. Yummy!

Grandpa thinks this is all great! He says I like "Chicken with Cashews" just like my Dad does, and "Beef Chow Fun" just like my Mom does. I guess I really am half of each of them.

Hi Blog Fans.

Sorry I've been away for so long. School has been super busy but I've only got two days left until I'm done for the summer. Mommy can't wait.

I've got some good news. Mommy has discovered a way to post to my blog using her iPhone. This means you'll be seeing lots of updates and catch-up blogs. So stay tuned. We have lots of adventures planned this summer.

Mini-Monet

Do you know who made this painting? Nope. Not Monet. It was my Kindergarten class. We each did a little bit with our teacher, Ms. Skinner, and it turned out great! I did the water lilies in the middle and some of the willows on the left side.

Last night, our class had an art gallery and silent auction in the evening. The painting we did was the item up for auction. Ms. Skinner was trying to raise money for next year's Kindergarten supplies. Mommy and Daddy put a bid on it but it wasn't nearly enough. I hear that the final bid was over $500! Wow! That's a lot of money. I could buy two Nintendo DS machines for that.

Mommy was the parent helper the day we did this painting. She wonders if Monet did the real Water Lilies painting in 45 minutes.
