My Perfect Day

Mommy and I had the BEST day today! We started off by changing into my favourite lounging clothes - chunderwear and robes! Then I got to watch "Super Why!" on TV BEFORE breakfast!

After breakfast, Mommy and I played board games until the afternooon. Then, because it was such beautiful, sunny day, we went for a bike ride down at Jericho beach. Of course, we changed out of our robes first.

Isn't it pretty here? I rode my bike all the way from the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club over to the Jericho Sailing Centre. Unfortunately, the restaurant at the Sailing Centre was closed so I didn't get to have a treat there.

After the bike ride, I played in the park for a little while them Mommy said we could go for a treat. I asked for ice cream!

After the ice cream I was still hungry so we went out for an early dinner. I love bean and cheese burritos but Burrito Brothers where I used to like to go keeps messing up my order so Mommy found a new place to try.

The guys at Budgies Burritos made my burrito perfectly - just bean and cheese with the rice outside on the side. It was YUMMMMMY! Mommy said her tacos were good too.

After dinner we had time to go home for a movie. This was one of the best days of my life.

Fun with Aunty T

Aunty T came over last night and we had lots of fun together. We played lots of board games then after dinner, we built towers out of Jenga blocks.

I think this was our best one! Thanks for the fun evening Aunty T!

Young Jedi

Apple-head

Like my apple-head? My old apple hat was my favourite but now I've grown and it doesn't fit any more.

This morning when I went to Grandpa's house for full-circle breakfast I found a great surprise - a new apple hat! Aunty Carolyn knit one for me, one for Daddy and a blue scarf for Mommy.

Too bad for Daddy but the small apple hat doesn't fit me so I got the big hat and Jacob gets the small one. Jacob loves his apple hat too.

Slip Sliding on Skates

Today I tried ice skating for the first time. Mommy took me onto the ice while Daddy watched us and took photos.

The ice is really slippery and it isn't as easy to skate as I thought it would be. To start, Mommy and I just walked around the edge of the rink until I felt more comfortable with skates on.

Skating is pretty hard and I fell a lot of times. With Mommy's help, I learned pretty quickly how to get up on my own.

Mommy thought it would be easier for me to learn if I pushed a cone around on the ice. It did help my skating and my getting up.

I think I had fun today. I'd like to try skating again (but not anytime soon).

Only One More Sleep

I'm so excited. Only one more sleep until Christmas! Mommy and I made some peanut butter cookies for Santa (he said they are his favourite) and will leave him a cup of coffee to help him stay awake during his long night. The reindeer like carrots.

I hope the day goes quickly so the last sleep before Christmas day comes quickly. I hope I can sleep tonight.

Marriage Update

I had a play date with my friend Marissa this afternoon. She asked me to marry her! What's a guy to do? Now I have to choose between TWO girls.

Hmmmm. I don't know if Marissa likes spiders...

In Concert - December 24th

I want to do a concert at the party on Christmas Eve so I asked Mommy to make me a poster and some tickets. I hope a lot of people buy tickets!

Kinder Kangaroos

I graduated from Kinder Kangaroos gymnastics class today. Here I am with my purple graduation ribbon.

Mommy got to join me in the gym for the last part of my class. I showed her everything that I've learnt. She was pretty impressed. My favourites are the trampoline and swinging on the rings. Mommy thinks I'm crazy and is glad I'm in gymnastics to get all my sillies out.

The Future Mrs. Maru?

This is Shyree. She asked me to marry her today. I told her I'd think about it. I really like her, she's fun, she's smart, she has a great imagination and she's pretty. We always have so much fun together. The only problem is she doesn't like spiders. Since I don't like spiders, if we get married, who will shoo the spiders away?

Letter to Santa

I felt like drawing a picture for Santa today. Mommy said we can mail it to his workshop in the North Pole. I hope he likes it.

I'm Growing

I think I've grown. This morning when my friend Thomas came over, we tried to fit ourselves into our school back packs. When we started preschool Thomas fit into his. Now we're too big.

5 More Weeks Until Christmas

Christmas is only five weeks away!!!!!!!!

Mommy has made me wait for two weeks to decorate my tiny Christmas tree. Today was the day!!!!!!

I'm sooooo excited! Tomorrow I'm going to hang up my stocking!

UBC Farm Field Trip

Today, my teacher, Ms. Skinner took our class on a field trip to the UBC Farm. Did you know that it is the only working farm left in Vancouver? And it's not even very far from my house.

It was a really fun and interesting trip. We started off talking about seeds and seedlings with our guide, Jacob. Luckily we got to do this part in the greenhouse because it was pouring rain outside.

Next we learned about soil. Jacob made us feel soil and compost at the dirt table outside. Eeew! I don't like getting my hands dirty and I really didn't want to do this part but I did it anyways. I learned that soil by itself, won't make a dirt ball, but when the soil is mixed with compost, everything sticks together better!

After playing with the dirt, we visited the compost bins to learn more about how compost is made. The morning class had an exciting show because lots of rats jumped out of the bins when the lids were lifted. Ms. Skinner isn't sure who was more scared, the rats or the mommies.

Jacob then lead us through the forest for a nature walk. We saw lots of tall trees that had name tags beside them. We came out at a meadow where the farm grows baby trees. They looked like my tiny Christmas tree.

Next we visited the vegetable garden. Jacob picked some fresh carrots, beets, kale and broccoli for Ms. Skinner to take back to the classroom. We have to try them on Monday - yuk!

Then came the most fun part of the trip, a visit with the chickens. It was really stinky but I liked petting them (if they came to me) and seeing their coop and where they lay eggs.

Further Comments

"You're already a little plumper Mommy. Well, on the sides at least. Both your sides have spreaded out. I can try to squeeze them back in for you if you want."

Daddy's Birthday

Today is Daddy's birthday. Mommy and I made two cakes for him. A wine grapes one for this morning and a golf one for tonight. They were both my idea. I love birthday cake - it's usually chocolate!

Last week, I went to the store and chose a card. There are soooo many to choose from. Since I like cats, I chose a card with a really cute cat on it.

Grandpa came over for breakfast. Aunty Wendy, Uncle Kelly and Jacob were supposed to join us too but they ended up being sick. We had my favourite, bagels and cream cheese.

After breakfast, we were too full to eat cake so Grandpa and I played Connect Four. I'm pretty good, you know.

Finally, it was time for cake! I helped Daddy with his candles. He's pretty old and I didn't think he could blow them all out himself.

Then it was time for gifts. I gave Daddy a new pair of winter gloves. After seeing them on Daddy, I thought they'd great with my Batman costume!

Weight Watcher

I finally weigh 40.0 lbs!

Jedi In Training

Daddy found a light saber when we were at the park yesterday. Since then, Yoda has been training me to be a Jedi Knight. My moves are getting very quick. The force must be with me.

Soccer Update

Halloween was a busy day. Not only was there trick or treating and Grandpa's birthday but I also had music and then played soccer in the morning.

Mommy says I'm really hustling on the soccer field now-a-days and that's why I scored more goals this week.

Halloween

Halloween is one of my favourite holidays. There are parties, field trips, people to visit and CANDY!

This year, we ended up with four pumpkins. As I already mentioned in my blog, my Kindergarten class went to the pumpkin patch in Richmond. Mommy and I brought home a couple of big pumpkins from there. We were invited to a pumpkin patch party by our friend Stuart. There I picked up another pumpkin. The fourth pumpkin came from our garden. I grew a small pumpkin in the back vegetable patch.

I asked Mommy to carve a scary pumpkin. This one is scary especially if you're the little pumpkin.

Mommy didn't have to do much for my costume this year. I decided to go as Superman and I already had the suit so she didn't have to make anything.

Grandpa's birthday is on Halloween. Every year I visit him in the afternoon to wish him Happy Birthday and share some cake with him.

After Grandpa's house we always visit Aunty Tosh and Uncle Ernie. Aunty Tosh always has the best decorated house. She decorates outside AND inside!!! and always remembers me with a special Halloween goodie bag. From there we visit Uncle Edwin and his family then usually make a quick stop at Aunty T and Uncle Muke's house so they can see my costume. Mommy always makes me go home for some dinner after visiting all our friends and family. After that, it's time for trick or treating. Mommy is the one who takes me out each year. Daddy prefers to stay home to hand out the candy.

Pumpkin Patch Field Trip

On Friday, my Kindergarten class went on a field trip to the pumpkin patch. It was just in time to choose a pumpkin for Halloween night. Here's Thomas and me at the entrance.

I'm kind of an expert at the pumpkin patch now because we went to the same farm last year when I was in preschool. Before you go out to the field, it's lots of fun to listen to the band, jump on hay bales and dance with Polly Pumpkin and Korny Corn.

Korny Corn was in a really silly mood. He came off the stage, danced with us, then let all of us chase him around the farm. Mommy thinks he's pretty brave to let 40 kids chase him.

After lots of dancing, it was time to catch the hay wagon out to the field. There was a guy named Pumpkin Pete on our wagon and he played the guitar and sang all sorts of old songs. I knew most of his songs because they are the same ones that Grandpa always sings.

The pumpkin patch was really, really muddy! There were huge puddles everywhere and lots of slimy, slippery, mud. Good thing we had our boots! I made sure that Mommy held my hand so that I wouldn't slip. I hate getting dirty.

At first I just wanted to get back on the wagon and go to Safeway to buy a pumpkin but then Mommy saw a nice grassy patch with lots of pumpkins. She said if we were careful we could get over to it and probably find a nice pumpkin. I almost fell once but we made it over there without getting dirty. Remember, I hate getting dirty!

Finding a good pumpkin was hard. Lots of them were rotten and slimy - yuk! Also, Mommy didn't want to carry a really big one. Finally, I found two that we both liked. One big one and one small one.

I tried to help Mommy by carrying the small pumpkin but after a short while, it was too heavy. We managed to get ourselves and our two pumpkins back across the muddy field without falling and headed back on the wagon.

After the wagon ride back I discovered a hay tent. It was just a huge tent full of hay. My friends and I had so much fun running, jumping, throwing and piling up the hay. Good thing I was wearing my rain coat because when the hay gets in your shirt, it's itchy.

Even though I escaped the hay tent without much hay stuck to me, when we got back to our car, we discovered my boots were full of hay.

I had a fun morning at the pumpkin patch. Now I have to dream up some jack-o-lantern faces.
